The silk trade can be found as far as Europe or even Africa during these times. In these now modern times, silk can be bought by anyone wealthy or not.

Typically these days, silk can be found in clothes and sheets. To maintain the quality of these types of sheets, you want to wash them by hand when you first buy them. It is essential to wash them by hand to preserve the quality of the silk. Most washing machines can be pretty harsh on fabrics. You do not want to damage the sheets before you get to use them. You also do not want to damage them before you get your moneys worth out of them. After the first few washes, you can wash them by machine. It would be wise to wash them in a delicate cycle with a mild detergent.

If they come with directions, just follow those. As for drying, I would recommend air drying your sheets. Putting them in a hot dryer can damage them quickly. Also, I would not recommend using an iron on them although some people do. If you are going to iron your sheets, I would suggest using a low-heat setting. Remember, no bleaches, harsh detergents and anything hot that might damage them.

If you have the extra money, I would recommend having them sent to the dry cleaners at least once a week. Also, because silk sheets tend to run a lot more than your average cotton sheets, I would measure your bed just in case. There's a variety of different bed sized and types. For example, a double bed in Japan may be different from a double bed in Europe or America. Having the measurements will ensure you get the right size.

Silk sheets and silk sheet sets are the easiest way to flaunt your luxury today. They are comfortable and affordable. I have had my sheets for about a year now, and I have loved every moment. They keep me warm at night and make my skin feel soft. I do have to take extra care of them due to the fabric, but it is worth the effort. I prefer to wash them by hand, but you can wash them any way you would like. Just take a little extra care of them and you will have them for years.
